PHOTO INFORMATION: State Rep. Brian BeGole (center), of Antrim Township, presented a tribute to Morrice High School track and field standout Oliver Long (right) on Tuesday, June 18 on the Michigan House floor.
As a sophomore, Long recently took first place in shot put at the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Division 4 state meet with a throw of 52 feet and 9 ¾ inches.
“The excellence shown in the arena by Oliver is an incredible example of the commitment and hard work needed to succeed throughout all aspects of life,” BeGole said. “Orioles throughout the Morrice community are very proud of his achievements, and the drive and dedication he showed throughout this season on the way to this accomplishment should be commended.”
Long was joined by brother Griffin (left), father Brad, mother Kerri, grandparents, great grandparents and Morrice athletic director Elizabeth Bontekoe as part of the tribute presentation.
BeGole represents Morrice as part of the 71st House District.
