State Rep. David Martin, R-Davison, has been appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to serve on the Michigan Workforce Development Board, an advisory body responsible for the continuous improvement and development of Michigan’s workforce development system.

“Being from Genesee County, I know firsthand the value of hard work and the importance of skilled trades training,” Martin said. “Our community is built on a strong work ethic, and I’m committed to ensuring that our workforce development efforts reflect those values and open doors for people across our state.”

Martin has represented portions of Genesee County in the Michigan House since 2021. He previously served as a Genesee County Commissioner and as mayor pro tem for the city of Davison. Martin also served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as the weather operations manager at the U.S. Army Aviation Center in Fort Rucker, Alabama. He later worked as a private investigator and as the security leader for Volkswagen’s North American Headquarters in Auburn Hills.
